Set It Off

Here are a few outfits I came by on fashionworship.com that reminded me a small smart piece can set an entire outfit off.

I love the purse.

Check out the shoes!

Again, the purse. Great with the ensemble.

Do you have any favorite accessories that set off your outfits?

Doing the Orange Polka

Thought I'd try something different today to show off my new orange jeans.

Here's the inspiration:

Here's what I wore:

Highs and lows

I've see a few high low dresses but didn't quite see them worn any way that spoke to me. After seeing this one at a DFWH sale (aka MJR Sales) for 80% off

I figured that would be the price to persuade me to give it a try.

I paired it with a black blazer, black tights, and black ankle biker boots. I was I inspired by this look.

I accessorized the look with rhinestone cross jewelry similar to these.

Try anything new lately?

What to Wear to Work series

Tweed and boucle jackets are timeless and classy. I chose this look as today's inspiration for what to wear to work. I have on black leggings, black knee boots, a sea foam color shirt and a black and white tweed jacket.

What are you wearing today?

What to Wear to Work series

I think I'll start a new series here. Finding work wear inspiration helps expedite my morning routine. It might help someone who reads this blog as well.

Here was yesterday's inspiration. I wore an old but beautiful velvet LONG maxi skirt, black tee, and black blazer. What did you wear?

Fat Calf Socks!

After years (literally) of trial and error I have finally found a sock that not only comes all of the way to my knee BUT also stays put! The problem hasn't necessarily been finding a sock that pulls but stays. The Merona Boot Solutions over-the-knee sock does well at both! At first I baulked at the $5/pair price, but soon went back for another color. $10 for two pair enabled me to go through my drawer and get rid of all of the unsuccessful attempts from years gone by. The sock is (for me) not too thick and not too thin. There is some extra material because it is meant to go over the knee but not so much that it aggravated me. The aggravation of pulling a sock up all day will always be greater than an irritation with extra material.
So that you know, some of the unsuccessful attempts include socks from the following: the Avenue, Target regular knee high socks, Walmart, Sears, KMart.
Are you a sock wearer? What's your favorite brand?

My Preferred Neutral

Last year I was in love with the color blush. I hunted for the muted tone in clothes, shoes, and makeup. This year, I can't get enough animal print. I'm loving any subtle pieces - shoes, boots, a shirt. Nothing to harsh, like a dress. Just pieces to use as neutrals. Here are some sample outfits from Polyvore:

Love the colors not necessarily the pieces of this one:

Here's some of what I've added to my collection:
My version of animal print shiny earrings. Forever 21 $6.80

Animal print flat Target $12

I only bought these boots because the were 70% off. I didn't like the elastic. Honestly, they are the most comfortable boot I own and you can't see the elastic with pants and jeans. Target $8

I have a very similar blouse from Lane Bryant (couldn't find pic online) $20

What's your favorite neutral this season?

Something Old New Again

You ever have an outfit that is no longer new, but you weren't ready to give it up? Almost a year ago I got this outfit although a year doesn't necessarily make it old, I wanted to sprouse it up a bit. I have been reading about elbow patches recently and thought that it would be pretty. I'm not sure if it worked because I didn't get any compliments, but it was fun to wear. I put these purple sequin patches on the elbow of the sweater.

What have you done to make old things new again?
